Founded in 2001, Rebel Verses is a 2-week festival of performances by some of the best youth companies in NYC & beyond. This festival was born out of the dire need here in New York City for new voices in theater. It is a journey into the unapologetic, unrestrainable creativity of the next generation. Since the festival’s inception, REBEL VERSES has provided youth companies with the opportunity to collaborate and network with their peers and prominent artists, encouraging the development of new works in theatre through this two-week event.
Taken place from August 9 through 11 & August 16 through 18, Rebel Verses 2018 came full force with a number of impactful voices.
Week One consisted of performances by Developing Artists Theater Company, Vineyard Theatre Student Ensemble, The Door, and Alumni Theater Company; with guest performances by Daphne Rubin-Vega, Flaco Navaja, and Kevin Mambo.
Week Two featured Developing Artists Theater Company, Vineyard Theatre Student Ensemble, MCC Youth Company, Epic Next, and 6th Borough Slam; with guest performances by Laura Gomez, Brandon Victor Dixon, and Joe Morton.
